LEGO Darth Maul Lunch Bag - 2011

Last days of camp and I hadn't done a LEGO guy in a while, so I just picked Darth Maul. I don't even know why. I guess it was his time.
In the last weeks I had found a better white pencil crayon and two shades of gray, and an old red Prismacolor. I used my white-out tape trick for the light saber blade again.
I wish I hadn't been so tired when I did his idiotic dialogue.  But... I was so... (yawn)... tired.

Arc Trooper Lunch Bag (yellow) - 2011

After the Ahsoka Tano lunch bag failure the first week of camp, I then did two days of these ARC Troopers to make up for it. First day was Commander Colt and the next day was this guy.  Strictly colored Sharpies and my son's white pencil crayon.  A little wonky, but decent enough to store a sandwich.

Captain Rex's New Helmet Lunch Bag - 2011

I wanted to surprise my son with something new - Captain Rex's new look for Season 4 of the Clone Wars series. The only reference I could get was glimpses of Rex on the season preview video on the Star Wars website. It felt like the old days of VHS tapes - trying to pause it at the exact right moment to catch the frame I needed. I got enough out of it for a lunch bag drawing.
Looks like Rex is the only Clone to keep this shape of visor, and I like it! The boys liked it too.

Star Wars+Camp Mash-Up Lunch Bag - 2011

The last STAR WARS Lunch Bag of summer 2011!
This being the last lunch bag for the summer, I decided to put my son and his camp counselor/van driver, Eric into this little mash-up scene from "Star Wars: A New Hope."
In an attempt at not insulting the camp, or the camp van I chose the scene when Luke Skywalker see's the Millenium Falcon for the first time and says "What a piece of junk!" Of course, in my version he's not critiquing the vehicle he will actually be traveling in, he's still insulting the Millenium Falcon. Chewie looks distressed by the comment. Poor Chewie.
Of course, Eric's line's a riff on Han Solo's reply "She'll make .5 past light speed..."
In our case, you get: 55mph on the 210 Pasadena Freeway. The freeway they rode on every day of camp.

JABBA loves PB&J Lunch Bag - 2011

Pressed for time, this may have been the fastest lunchbag I did. Start to finish 25 mins.  Originally, I wrote a whole ton of faux-Huttese dialogue for Jabba that would have included side-by-side translations,  but it would have taken up way too much space. I pared it back to this, and replaced 'and' with a made up word so that it might sound more Hutt'ish.  Later on that day, I thought of what could have been the heading for this bag: "Star Wars: Return of the Jelly...(and Peanut Butter)"

There actually was a triple-decker peanut butter and jelly sandwich inside the bag this day, that I'm sure Jabba would have loved.

GONK Droid Lunch Bag - 2011

Second last lunch bag of camp, and I chose to make it a Gonk Droid. Or Power Droid.  Whichever you prefer.  These walking droids left a lasting impression on me from the first time I saw "Star Wars".  And I loved my Kenner Star Wars Power Droid action figure back in the day.  So, why not a lunch bag?  I gave it a bumper sticker to acknowledge my son's camp group. He dug it.

LEGO Jar-Jar vs. Clone Lunch Bag - 2011

 

My son asked me to draw this up.  I thought it was a little violent. But then I figured "They're legos You can just rebuild them!" I think I rushed this one a little.
